I’m Raven Baxter, a molecular biologist and educator who leads public engagement in science and health, from a child’s first experiment to what adults learn and act on in their lives and communities. I am President and Executive Director of The Science Haven, a nonprofit whose Stellar Dreams program gives children telescopes and trains them as junior astronomers. As Dr. Raven the Science Maven, I have grown a community of more than 660,000 followers.

I trained in molecular biology at SUNY Buffalo State and began my career as a drug discovery scientist. My research examined how cells keep their proteins working under stress and how antibodies find their targets.
As an educator, I lead public engagement in science and health, from The Science Haven’s Stellar Dreams telescope program for children to keynotes, media and clinical guidance for physicians.
I develop clinical guidance, curricula and public engagement strategy for organizations that serve the public.

I led and co-wrote the first United States clinical manual for infection-associated chronic illnesses, spanning Long COVID, myalgic encephalomyelitis, and post-treatment Lyme.
Reagan-Udall Foundation for the Food and Drug Administration
I created the curriculum and lesson content for this free vaccine education resource, which includes five modules, sixteen lessons and more than thirty videos on how immunity works, aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards.
I have also trained leaders to communicate about vaccines with the public, advised the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the Food and Drug Administration on culturally responsive science communication, and participated in White House National Space Council roundtables. I partner with the National Fair Housing Alliance to help people understand and exercise their housing rights.
