Dr. Raven Baxter teaches at Regeneron DNA Learning Lab

Dr. Raven Baxter recently visited Regeneron's DNA Learning Center, held in partnership with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The Center offers students and teachers the chance to explore molecular biology through hands-on activities and workshops. During her visit, Dr. Baxter had the pleasure of meeting with a group of 22 students and teachers from the New York City area, to teach them about bacterial transformation.

Bacterial transformation is a critical technique in modern day genetic engineering whereby foreign DNA can be inserted into a bacterial cell, which then expresses that new gene product into its phenotype. This process may seem complicated at first glance, but when broken down into its individual steps it becomes much easier to understand - something Dr. Baxter does with ease!

The workshop was an interactive experience for the attendees, with Dr. Baxter using visuals and demonstrations to illustrate the concepts involved in bacterial transformation. By showing how complex topics can be broken down into more digestible parts, she provided both inspiration and instruction for those attending her session.

Overall, Dr. Raven Baxter's visit to Regeneron's DNA Learning Center was incredibly successful as it opened up possibilities for learning beyond what traditional methods can offer by providing a more hands-on approach to STEM education. Her enthusiasm and expertise further motivated everyone present to continue exploring the world of science in unique ways!
